Why don’t we use domestic TPU raw material

TPU is a kind of eco-friendly and recyclable elastomer material, which has good performance in low temperature. So TPU is widely used in various field, including apparel, outdoor products, medical treatment, automobile, etc. However, just like a dress has different price in different quality, TPU raw material also has different quality grade.

As a TPU tape and TPU coated webbing manufacturer, we mainly use three types of TPU raw material: Taiwan material, Germany material and Japan material. Because of the difference of the material cost, the final TPU tape also has different price. Of course, what price, what goods. TPU tape in higher price are also in better quality. Though we provide high quality product now, we actually ever provided bad quality product once several years ago. That’s the admonishment to us.

In 2017, we had A Series TPU tape besides B Series, D Series and D Series. A Series tape is made from Chinese (mainland) domestic TPU raw material. The TPU supplier promised that this type of TPU material woouldn’t get bad in one year. Then we did some test and cooperated with the supplier. The cooperation lasted for one year. The last time we used this type of material is 2018. Our client very trust us and placed an order as usual. Considering the cost, client chose A Series. Unfortunately, the clear tape exuded powder on surface ( we have another article illustrating why TPU tape would exude powder on surface ) after only one month from when client receiving the goods. Once got the feedback, we suggested client to send one kilogram tape back. After testing and analyzing, we found out the problem spot: TPU raw material.

As a responsible enterprise, as well as living up to client’s trust, we decided to reproduce TPU tape for client in quality of B Series. Further, stopped the cooperation with the supplier and cut A Series.

Therefore, in order to keep the high quality of TPU tape, we retain only three types of TPU raw material. The TPU tape we offer now are all pass Oeko-tex Standard 100 Certificate. D Series and S Series tape even pass Oeko-tex Standard 100 Certificate Annex 6, which can be used for baby clothes.

Finally, we have to acknowledge that domestic research and development of TPU raw material is not as good as that in USA or Europe nowadays. We hope that domestic enterprises can develop new high quality material one day.
